A/Prof Jason Chang is an accredited specialist in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His clinical field of expertise is in hepatology including viral hepatitis, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, with a subspecialty interest in diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension.

A/Prof Chang is a Senior Consultant and current Head of the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Singapore General Hospital. He completed his fellowship training in Advanced Hepatology in Portal Hypertension and Liver Transplantation at Hospital Clinic, Barcelona from 2007–2008. He was instrumental in setting up the Cirrhosis Clinic, Fibroscan® and HVPG service in SGH.

He is active in clinical research, having published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in the field of liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, non-invasive markers of fibrosis, transient elastography (Fibroscan®), digital liver pathology and liver cancer.

A/Prof Chang is also a passionate educator at heart and is actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education. He completed his Masters in Medical Education in 2021. He was the Program Director of the SingHealth Gastroenterology Residency Program from 2012-2018 and won the AMEI Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Medical Educator in 2015. He is currently an Assistant Dean (Clinical Clerkships) at the Duke-NUS Medical School and Director of Faculty Affairs of the SingHealth Medicine Academic Clinical Program.
