Dr Noriya Uedo

Dr. Uedo is a gastroenterologist and clinical investigator in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Osaka International Cancer Institute (Formerly Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases. He graduated from the School of Medicine, Kagoshima University in 1992. He has joined the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Osaka University. In 1994, Dr. Uedo started his training in gastrointestinal oncology and endoscopy in the Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases. His current research interests are:
1) Clinical application of advanced endoscopic imaging into diagnosis of digestive tract cancers,
2) Endoscopic treatment of superficial cancers in the digestive tract and
3) How to teach and learn advanced endoscopy technique.
He is a councilor of Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopic Society, Japanese Society of Gastroenterology, and Japan Esophageal Society, and Japanese Gastric Cancer Association, and an international member of American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is serving as a visiting professor in Fukuoka University Chikushi Hospital, as a visiting expert in Shizuoka Cancer Center and Changi General Hospital, and used to serve as a visiting professor in Lund University Malmoe University hospital, and Chinese PLA general hospital. He was a committee member of Guidelines for endoscopic diagnosis of early gastric cancer; Guidelines for endoscopic submucosal dissection and endoscopic mucosal resection for early gastric cancer (second edition); and British Society of Gastroenterology guidelines on the diagnosis and management of patients at risk of gastric adenocarcinoma.
