Dr Chee-Kiat Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1984. He obtained his postgraduate qualifications of MRCP (UK) in 1989 and FRCP (Edinburgh) in 1998. He underwent further training in Hepatology in Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA from 1993-1994, focusing on cholangiocarcinoma basic research and liver transplantation. He is a member of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Gastroenterology) since 1995 and was bestowed Fellowship of the American Association for Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD) in 2018. He has served in advisory boards in liver transplantation, liver cancer, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. His special interests are in liver transplantation, liver cancer and viral hepatitis and has started a national registry on hepatocellular carcinoma. He also has an interest in medical education and recently completed the Diploma in Medical Education from University of Dundee. He has more than 80 publications, 2 book chapters and more than 100 abstracts presented at various regional and international meetings. He is currently a senior consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Singapore General Hospital. He is also the Director of the National Organ Transplant Unit of the Ministry of Health. He holds positions of Adjunct Professor in the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School as well as Clinical Associate Professor in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
