Being an accomplished endoscopist who has been invited to perform live case demonstrations in numerous international endoscopy workshops, Professor Ho is an effective educator and speaker, winning the Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards, National University of Singapore, in 2000, and 2003 respectively, and being conferred the honorary International Life Membership of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India to recognize his contribution to endoscopic training in India.
Experienced in spearheading collaboration between researchers in Asia, he is chairman of the Asian EUS Group, an interest group dedicated to endoscopic ultrasound training and professional development of endosonographers in the Asian region. Since 2012, the group has successfully organized >100 workshops, and trained more than 2,500 trainees in 16 Asian countries. He also chairs the Gut & Obesity in Asia (“Go Asia”) Workgroup, which aims to study relationship between obesity and the gastrointestinal system in Asia-Pacific countries.
His regional standing as an academic leader is exemplified by invitation as an orator in the Francisco Roman Memorial Lecture (Joint Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology and Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy, 2003), Nihal Marcus Memorial Oration (Sri Lanka Gastroenterological Association, 2012), and Panir Chelvam Memorial Lecture (Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology). In 2010, he was conferred the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation Emerging Leadership lecturer in Asia Pacific Digestive Week.
A proven clinician innovator and experienced entrepreneur who co-founded two medical device start-ups, Endomaster and Endofototnics, he has won the Singapore President’s Technology Award in 2012 with his co-inventor, and held 3 US granted patents in medtech products.
His outstanding contributions to the medical profession as a leading expert and key opinion leader have won him the Distinguished Senior Clinician awarded by Ministry of Health Singapore in 2017. He was conferred the National Day Award 2017, Public Administration Medal (Bronze), by the President of the Republic of Singapore.
