Dr Thomas Lui was awarded a distinction in medicine upon graduating in 2004 and subsequently completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2011. He further honed his skills by receiving advanced endoscopy training at Kobe University in Japan under the tutelage of Dr Takashi Toyonaga in 2014 and 2017. Dr Lui also earned the title of Honorary Research Fellow at Kobe University in 2014. Dr Lui’s expertise encompasses image-enhanced endoscopy, endoscopic submucosal dissection, per-oral endoscopic myotomy, full-thickness endoscopic resection, and submucosal tunnelling endoscopic resection. He currently serves as the specialist in charge at the HKU Endoscopic Centre. In addition to his proficiency in advanced endoscopy, Dr Lui’s research interests include the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in gastroenterology and endoscopy. He has published multiple original articles as the first author in leading journals, including Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. At present, Dr Lui holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong and the Chairman of endoscopy centre in Gleneagles Hospital of Hong Kong.
